I wrote my master's thesis in post-production on the compositing-technique of Keying. The resulting paper focused on the Color Difference-method and the analysis of the two keyers Ultimatte and Keylight inside Foundry's Nuke. In the applied part an idealised and a realistic testing-environment was developed to be able to assess and compare their performances. This was achieved by measuring color differences between reference images and keying results in relevant scenarios that e.g. also took different skin and hair colors into account. The goal was to gain a deeper theoretical and practical knowledge on the topic of keying and create guidelines that would help compositors and VFX-supervisors to better judge keying-scenarios and optimize results.

Equipment used: Sony FS7, Atomos Shogun.
Software used: Foundry Nuke, Photoshop.
